October 23, 2009, Newsletter Issue #97: Kid's Room Flooring

Tip of the Week

Kid's room decorating shouldn't stop with the choice of bedding or wall accents. Remember that your kids spend a lot of time on the floor of their rooms. Be creative when it comes to flooring, but also consider the age of the child. Kid's room décor for a younger child needs to include some floor padding, so stick with carpet or thick throw rugs. An older child might want a painted floor or a novelty rug in faux fur.

When decorating kid's rooms, consider the flooring as part of the entire design scheme. Use color or texture to pull the room together. For example, a princess room would look special with a pink and white tiled floor effect. Set off a jungle-themed room with a bamboo rug.
