February 16, 2007, Newsletter Issue #51: Whose Room is it? HERS!

Tip of the Week

When planning how you want to decorate and equip your girl's (or girls') bedroom, the first thing you need to consider is who will be using the room. Will the room be shared, and by whom? Do the girls have similar tastes, or will you have to find a way to strike a balance between the different things they want? Discussing these questions with your daughters - if they want a theme and can agree on it, you're off to a great start.

If they want different themes, consider choosing some basic bedding and décor elements, and using each child's favorite accessories to build a theme in his part of the room. Next, make sure that you have areas dedicated and tailored to each activity that will take place in the room.

Setting up a desk area for studying, and make sure there is plenty of storage for both toys and clothes so that the room has the best chance of staying neat and comfortable to sleep in. If the room is going to have a theme, try to incorporate elements of the theme into each area of the room so that it feels unified.
